Seeing Red

I've had a busy month!  A lot of birthday parties and experimenting with red macarons.

Here are some things that I have been working on that has me seeing red.

Elmo cake pops!  I loved making these!  They were for Andrew's 1st birthday party.  I was hesitant to make them because they are time consuming, but some great things about these pops, if they crack, you can easily cover the cracks up with fur.  Also, there is something relaxing about adding "fur" to these pops.

They look so happy!  I used candy melts for the mouths, if I ever have to make these again I would use something thinner for the mouths, because the candy melts were thick.

Cake pops for a Mickey birthday party.  I didn't have a lot of time to put together the cake pop stand, so ignore the scotch tape :P

I love the polka dots.

Remember those red macarons that I have been trying to make?

I finally got them to the red I wanted.  I stirred almost 2 tsps of red food coloring in to get it to the red I wanted.  I used Christmas Red food powder coloring by CK products.

Just in time for Valentine's day!  I over mixed it a bit so when I finished piping the heart shaped macarons, they spread and a lot of them ended up as triangles.

Have a Happy Valentine's Day!  <3

  1. OMG! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Elmo! He's our muse. We made Elmo cupcakes and Elmo macarons. Your Elmo cake pops inspire us to make them someday.

Your cake pop stand looks great too! Very festive. I'll have to keep checking back at your blog for more inspirations. Glad to have "met" you via MacTweets.
